I’m Ashley

A 35 year old kid haver, food creator, fitness doer, book reader, coffee drinker, sky lover, music feeler, life appreciator, tree hugger, dream dreamer. I’m starting this blog because I feel in my bones that I’m supposed to be doing something with my passion. I was 21 when I started cooking, and 32 when I started my fitness journey. I’m guessing I was around 5 when I started reading, and around 28 when coffee became life!

I want to create a space where I can share my recipes, a mix of healthy and unhealthy dishes, books and podcasts that have moved me in some way, and I truly want to motivate you to take care of your body and move. Taking intentional time to care for your body and mind have become so important to me. I’m fiercely protective of these daily practices, and I want to share it with you. Strong coffee, fresh table, is fitness, life, and good food, from me to you!

Favorite Meal:

macaroni and cheese! I don't care if it’s fancy or basic, just put some noodles with some cheese sauce and I am happy!

 Favorite Song:

Crash Into Me by Dave Matthews Band. There will never be another song that I love more than this one!

Favorite Book:

this one is really hard, but I think I have to go with The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. I'm a sucker for WW2 era books and this one is just SO GOOD. I felt, and I felt, and I felt again! Read it, you'll see what I mean.

Favorite Coffee Drink:

French press and black! I rarely stray from the Rockhouse Blend by Early Riser. If it's gonna be fancy, I just like a simple vanilla latte with almond milk!

 Favorite TV Show:

Friends...for obvious reasons. It's only the best show ever created. Game of Thrones and Peaky Blinders are right up there too!

 Favorite Flavor:

pesto! chocolate! coffee! cilantro! almond extract! this one is hard.

 

Favorite Alcoholic Beverage:

vodka and water or Coors Light

Favorite Thing(s) To Do:

I just really love the simplest things in life. My kids are my life. Hosting parties, having my house and yard full of people I love, eating and drinking, making memories.

Gardening and yard work, really good lyrics, trying new eateries, traveling, volunteering in my community, and planning events! Creating recipes, working out, and reading are all a given here!

 Favorite Cooking Tool:

probably a good wooden spoon!

 

Favorite Music Genre:

I will listen to ALMOST anything! It's easier to say what I don't like…new country and rage music!

 Favorite Workout Moves:

I love any dumbbell work, rowing, deadlifts, kettlebell swings, sumo squats, trx pull-ups, ab work... again maybe it’s easier to say what I don't like... burpees and pushups! Running is slowly growing on me! Oh, and I love yoga!
